What do I mean by “common sense development?” I mean industrial, commercial and residential density that builds our tax base AND enhances the vitality and identity of our neighborhoods. I support common sense development AND affordable housing.
Affordable housing comes in many forms. I believe a multi-faceted approach is essential. I support dense development of affordable housing, for example, along transit corridors. I will push for development agreements that benefit our city, for example, through mandatory community benefit agreements, affordable housing agreements, and/or precluding a buyout of the parkland dedication requirement. I welcome and encourage open, constructive dialogue on balancing a neighborhood’s vitality and identity with the City’s urgent need for more affordable housing. Development that results in long-term benefits for neighborhoods and enables families to be more financially self-sufficient is extremely important to me.
